1. Check local scholarships and apply. Many have early deadlines  
2. Create your FSA User ID at . Parents of Dependent students must each create an FSA ID in addition to the student.
3. Complete the FAFSA online at
  • Everyone must file a new FAFSA each year
  • The 25/26 FAFSA is available as of December 1, 2024.
  • Complete the FAFSA no later than March of each year
  • The Department of Education selects approximately 18% of FAFSA filers for Verification. Documentation may be requested of the student to complete this process.
  • The UNOH School Code is 004861
4. Student receives a FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS)
  • Purpose is to verify accuracy of FAFSA information
  • Must be reviewed by student and parent
  • No response is necessary if all data is correct. Corrections can be submitted if needed at .
5. Student receives a 黄瓜精品Offer
  • Student receives a postcard and/or email with instructions on how to view their 黄瓜精品Offer at
  • A 黄瓜精品Offer tells you what you are eligible for
  • A 黄瓜精品Offer displays how financial aid will be distributed over applicable payment periods
  • Reviewing a 黄瓜精品Offer is necessary and additional processes are required to use student loans.
  • Use the "Calculate Essential Costs" calculator to determine your estimated costs and need
  • Determine if you will need to use the offered Federal Direct Student Loan
  • Determine if you will need additional loans beyond the Federal Direct Student Loan
  
6a. Student applies for Federal Direct Student loans at
  • Complete the Entrance Counseling
  • Sign the Master Promissory Note
  • Complete the Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement 
  • Determine if the Federal Direct Student Loan is sufficient for all of your needs. If not, additional options are available in 6b.
  
6b. Student and/or Parent/Co-Signer applies for additional costs
  • Apply no sooner than 180 days before student's start date
  • Parents can apply for a Federal PLUS Loan. Determine if Federal Direct is best for you.

    • Note: Students for whom Federal Direct Parent PLUS loans are declined may have additional Federal Direct Student Loans available
  • Students can apply for Private Loans, and enlist assistance of a Co-Signer if necessary.    Private loans can be applied for by students or non-student borrowers. Lending options are available at .
    • Perform preliminary credit approval requirements
    • Sign Master Promissory Note by You, Parent, Guardian, and Co-Signer as required
  
7. Have your high school send your Final High School Transcript to the Registrar's Office at UNOH. This is a Federal requirement necessary for disbursement of Federal aid funds.
