Managing Off-Campus Travel

It is understood that some personnel must travel as it is an integral part of their job.   If you are thinking about traveling off campus and out of Ohio, ask yourself the following questions:
  • Is COVID-19 spreading where you’re going? You can get infected while traveling.
  • Is COVID-19 spreading in the local area? Even if you don’t have symptoms, you could spread COVID-19 to others while you travel.
  • Does the Ohio or the state government where you’re traveling require you to stay home for 14 days after traveling? Keep in mind Ohio may require or recommend a quarantine after returning to the state.  Will this impact your class or work schedule?
  • Find CDC guidelines regarding travel

Internships & Externships

Students completing internships and externships off campus are expected to follow all health and safety guidelines, procedures, and protocols of the internship or externship site. For students enrolled in programs that require an internship or externship experience, contact your instructor if you feel uncomfortable with a particular site’s setting because of health or safety concerns.  Students who are participating in campus extra-curricular experiences that require travel out of Ohio are expected to follow all local, regional, and state guidelines.  Any exceptions must receive prior approval from a club advisor or externship supervisor.

University-related Travel

  • Travel for university business is permitted. Employees and students must act in accordance with state and local guidelines in place at their destination.
  • UNOH recommends utilizing virtual meeting tools whenever possible to avoid travelling to different states or regions of the country.
  • Employees and students may be required to self-quarantine prior to returning to campus depending on local and state travel advisories in place at the time of travel.
  • Admissions representatives who travel on a daily basis must follow all state and local travel and safety guidelines.

Use of University-Owned Vehicles

  • All passengers are required to disinfect the vehicle prior to use and after each trip.
  • A log of users including name, phone number, date, and time of use will be kept for each vehicle to assist with contact tracing if needed.

Students, Staff or Faculty who are not following University guidelines may be subject to disciplinary action.
