Maintaining a Healthy and Safe Campus

The following guidelines, policies, and procedures have been put in place to keep the students, faculty, and staff healthy and mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Personal Health & Hygiene

  • Students, faculty and staff should self-screen daily before going to any campus building for any of the following new or worsening symptoms of possible COVID-19. Below is a list of symptoms currently reported. Check the or your healthcare provider for the most current information. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, do not report to campus and contact your healthcare provider for guidance.  Then contact your supervisor or instructor to notify them of your absence.
    • Cough
    • Chills
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Feeling feverish or measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit
      • If you do not have access to a thermometer, temperature check stations are available at all reception desks on campus.
    • Loss of taste or smell
    • Extreme Fatigue
    • Repeated shaking with chills
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion
    • Headache
    • Muscle pain
    • Runny Nose
    • Diarrhea
    • Nausea/Vomiting
    • Known close contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content
  • Use proper etiquette when coughing/sneezing: into your elbow, sleeve, or a tissue, which is disposed of immediately. Then wash your hands with soap and water.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with others, especially with those who are ill or who may have been exposed to someone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Stay home when you are sick. Contact your supervisor or instructor of your absence and make arrangements to complete coursework remotely as needed.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently-touched objects and surfaces in your classroom, office, or living space shared with others.
  • Maintain cleanliness through removal of unnecessary personal items and debris to create clean counter spaces and support of cleaning efforts on common surfaces. If additional cleaning is needed, please contact the UNOH Plant Department.
  • Drinking fountains have been retrofitted with touchless water bottle filling stations.
  • Vending Machines are open and will be disinfected regularly throughout the day.
  • University will enforce increased cleaning protocols of all frequently touched surfaces. Protocols include wiping down desks and personal areas before and after each class and disinfecting shared tools, materials, and training aids between each class.

Social Distancing, Classroom Capacity, and Barriers

  • Maintain space between you and others both indoors and outdoors when possible. This includes gathering in groups in enclosed spaces.
    • Classrooms, hallways, and common areas have been marked with decals and lines to provide visual cues for students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Classrooms and offices have been reconfigured to allow for distancing between students and guests.
  • Instructors are able to lecture behind mobile glass dividers in all classrooms if they so choose.
  • Barriers have been installed at reception and service desks to provide additional protection where social distancing is impractical.
  • Faculty and Staff should use Microsoft Teams or Zoom for meetings as often as possible.

Face Coverings

  • Based on updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention along with Allen County Public Health, face coverings are optional on campus. This applies to both indoor and outdoor settings as of March 9, 2022.
  • Individuals who are symptomatic, test positive, or are exposed to someone with COVID-19, should wear a face covering. If individuals feel unwell, they should stay home.  Students should contact the Student Success office and employees should contact Human Resources for guidance if they are symptomatic.
  • The University fully supports the use of face masks for anyone who feels they want to wear one and masks will continue to be available at campus front desks for students or staff members who request one.

Students, Staff or Faculty who are not following the University guidelines may be subject to disciplinary action.
